Unrealistic Assumption #1: The Environment Will Remain Stable during the Project The waterfall-oriented methodology that PDT employed made a hidden assumption that the business environment would remain stable while the project was under way. This is a logical way to attack problems in a highly stable environment where there is time to make the planned solution work before it becomes obsolete.
