Based on the women's stories, I developed a typology that acknowledges a hierarchy in their economic support strategies and the importance of the social context of the women's crack cocaine use, including the frequency of use, the settings, and the people present. The four main categories in this typology are: Queens of the Scene, Hustlers, Hookers, and Older Struggling Rookies.
Only a few women were unable to detect any effects from smoking crack cocaine.
